samandjack.net describes itself as the original Sam Carter and Jack O'Neill fanfic resource. It hosts more than 4,000 Sam/Jack stories.

The former co-archivist describes the appeal of the site for Jam/Jack fans:

Stumbling across the SJD (or SJA as it was at the time) is what got me involved in this fandom. I found this site full of wonderful stories that were soley focused on a pairing that I was interested in (obsessed may be a better word). I found a link to the samandjack mailing list and there I’ve stayed for the last three and a half years. [...] We have a page here where we don’t have to wade through the Sam/Daniel fic or NoRomo stories. When we click on a story, we’re guarenteed a Sam and Jack story. How great is that?![1]

The site is a sister site of the Dan and Jan Fanfiction Archive.

Site History

The Sam/Jack Fanfiction Archive (SJA) first opened on 2 Nov 1998 and was hosted on Geocities.[2] The samandjack.net url was introduced on 16 Oct 2002. That year the page was restructured and became the Sam/Jack Directory (SJD). It was the fan fiction index for the samandjack mailing list and in 2002 the directory listed more than 2,000 stories.[3]

One of the archivists describes the changes:

The SJD, first and foremost, is a fanfiction archive. The original SJD (then called the "SJA") contained only a very small portion of fanfiction and so, in an effort to increase awareness of this wonderful relationship, other sections were gradually added. Episode reviews that contained a "shippy focus", beta readers, song lyrics (for inspiration), picture galleries and character info-pages were just some of the many ways the archive strove to increase the SJ fan following. And it worked. (Well, ok, to be honest - increased awareness more than likely came from wonderful episodes like "Into The Fire", "Point Of View", "Divide And Conquer", "Window Of Opportunity" and "Entity" (etc etc etc). *g*)
So, with a huge fan following, the SJ fanfiction very quickly started flooding in. For an archive that opened with only three fanfictions, "today's" figure of 2,000+ stories is quite staggering. However, with this huge fic-flood, a choice had to be made. For a good 20 months (if not longer) there were very little updates to the SJD, and what updates were made were usually lacking in fanfiction - not because of a lack of stories but because of a lack of time to update fanfiction and all the other area's of the SJD. Because of this, I made a decision to return the SJD to it's original roots - fanfiction.
The SJD of today is a completely (SJ) fanfiction orientated site.[4]

The site became an automated archive on 13 Sep 2009.[5]
