Salvage is a Blake's 7 Avon/Tarrant story by Misha. It was printed in the zine Liberator Fantasies.
It was originally meant to be in the zine, Angelfood. From a fan in 1997:
He has a long and interesting Avon/Tarrant AU that was supposed to go into upcoming Tarrant slash zine, Angelfood, until I decided to cancel it because of the [redacted]. I hope he finds another good home for it, because it's a really great story. [1]
Author's Description
My first explicit slash story was nearly 20,000 words long, but had only one explicit sex scene, about 500 words long. It was "Salvage," Blake's 7 Avon/Tarrant... They USTed for ages before Avon finally jumped Tarrant. [2]
Reactions and Reviews
"Salvage" by Misha is an angsty A/Ta set in an alternate universe in which Avon apparently never took up with Blake but has his own DSV, stolen from the System with the help of Orac, who was bequeathed to Avon by his former colleague Ensor. Furthermore, in this universe Avon is bi, and he was sleeping with both of the Grant siblings. Avon rescues the young pilot of a pursuit ship that is destroyed when it attacks his ship. The two of them then encounter the Grants, in a plot that combines elements from Countdown and Rumours. I particularly like the way Avon and Tarrant contemplate each other's bodies for some time before they actually get it together. And we are kept guessing until the very last line as to whether the ending will be happy or tragic.[3]
