Why this must be read: Because it's an honest look at what Blair's responsibility to Jim (a human research subject) really entailed. Did Blair renounce his research for Jim's benefit? For himself, to put right a wrong so he can live with himself? In under five thousand words, Arrow explores what that press conference meant to both of them. And they're on the cusp of change, and before they can go forward, they need to deal with their past.[1]
I didn't have time to leave a comment the first time I read this, but now that I came back to it, I just have to. I'm just so in love with the pairing right now. This story is such a perfect coda for the entire show, a perfect conclusion to the events that took place in the last episode. Adding the actual Statement of Ethics into the mix and weaving it into the story makes this even better, adding a new layer of depth to what Blair did and how he felt. (Even makes me see that press conference scene, and how he sounds like he's about to cry, in a new light)
The best of all, you can feel them in this story, especially towards the end, and how their love for each other is evident in everything including their playfulness, something that to me is an integral part of their relationship. I'm so happy I've found this fandom, and even happier that you have fics with this pairing ^_^ Thank you![2]
