Reactions and Reviews

1990

In this unique story, a young girl sees an apparition of two beautiful young men riding great white stallions along the crest of a hill on the family property. When she tells her grandmother, she hears the story of a crashed spacecraft and its two occupants—one fair and one dark—who died as a result of the crash. And the fair one was killed as a result of injuries, but the dark one died because of the other's death. The dark one asked that they be buried together on the hill. Some time later, people cone seeking the two, and the story was told then. At that time, the Elders were first seen. Since then, they had been seen rarely. Their graves were marked only by two poles, one topped with a piece of gold fabric, the other by blue. This is a very short story, beautifully written, imaginatively conceived, and poignant. It fully repays rereading. [1]

1996

This story is only about a second long, but so very sad. It took me longer to stop crying than to read this. [2]
