Reconnaissance Newsletter was a Space: 1999 and Star Trek: TOS bimonthly newsletter edited and published by Tony Wynn, with contributions by Esther Reese, Eric A. Stillwell, Janet Walker, and Mary Tchir. It changed titles and publishing frequency in 1982 and became Reconnaissance Quarterly.

In July 1983, the editor explained this publication's origins:

"My 'love-affair' with science fiction began in the early 70's when I saw my first Star Trek reruns on TV. In 1975, I saw 1999 for the first time and absolutely loved it, and immediately joined the Alliance through an ad spotted in Starlog Magazine. I guess you can call me an 'old-timer' having been around before MC, when the one-sheets were still mailed. In 1976, I attended my first convention with George Takei and Grace Lee Whitney, and Yeoman Rand became my favorite ST character. As the years went on I published the 'Reconnaissance Newsletter' (now the 'Reconnaissance Quarterly' and soon to evolve into Reconnaissance Press) and became the first editor of Starfleet's Communique..."
