patd is the first LiveJournal community for Panic! at the Disco fans. Despite the name, "The Official Panic! at the Disco LJ Community", it appears to be an unofficial fan community run by fans.

Types of posts included concert reviews and photos from fans who attended, homemade t-shirts, icons and other graphics, official merch, questions, media interviews, etc. Ryan Ross posted a few times in 2005 with updates about the band. As part of FBR PATD had street teams, whose organizers and members also posted to the comm. RPF was not allowed[1], though some fans posted promos for RPF communities.

For the first few months of the comm, most of the posts were intro posts that followed a template and included name, age, location, how they heard about the band, whether they had seen the band live, and what other bands they liked. Most of them were teenagers. Many intro posts mentioned hearing about the band from Pete Wentz's blog or FOB message boards. Others mentioned streaming site PureVolume or the FBR CD sampler. A few mentioned seeing Ryan Ross's posts promoting the band on the tightpants livejournal community.[2] No one had seen them live. (The band had done next to no shows in Las Vegas and didn't go on tour until August 2005.)

In July 2005, someone complained, "it feels like everyone in this community are fall out boy fans. am i the only one that doesn't like them or something?"[3]

In 2006, alt_patd was created as a short-lived alternative to the patd comm for "those of us who like Panic! At The Disco and love LJ, but hate having our friends pages raped by paint icons and questions about who's this or that girl in that picture with (guy in the band)." As of 2017, alt_patd had 94 posts and 492 comments.[4]

As of early 2013 the patd community had 11,099 posts; 463,110 comments; and 11,732 members.[5] The last post in the community was on December 29, 2013.
