Astarion/Gale/Halsin, also known as Oakbloodweave, is the poly pairing of Astarion, Gale, and Halsin from Baldur's Gate III. This ship is canonical if the Player Character is Gale.

Canon

If the Player Character is anyone other than Gale, Gale will refuse to be in a poly relationship, independently of the participants. If he is the PC he will no longer have the same limitation. He will be able to enter a relationship with Astarion, and during Act III, if he previously showed attraction for Halsin, he will then be asked if he would like to be in a relationship with him as well.

Fandom

Pairing name and representation

The pairing seemingly does not have a portmanteau name, with only Astarion/Gale/Halsin and Oakbloodweave being used. This last one is a fanciful name, with Oak representing Halsin (due to his worship of Silvanus, the Oak Father), Blood representing Astarion (due to him being a vampire) and Weave representing Gale (due to him being a wizard who can control the weave, or magic).

Due to its poly nature, this ship may also be found under Astarion/Halsin, Astarion/Gale or Gale/Halsin tags.

Inception

On 19th October 2023, Neil Newbon, Astarion’s Voice Actor, invited Dave Jones, Halsin’s Voice Actor, to be on his stream during his Tav’s first meeting with Halsin in-game. During this stream both actors discussed a particular fanart illustration by Malacandrax on Twitter (X), which featured Astarion being kissed and held between Halsin and Gale, which Jones had reposted from Béart on his feed a few days earlier[1]. Fans were excited to know Newbon and Jones both approved and appreciated the art produced by fans, as well as found it hot[2]. This interaction has been clipped many times by fans[3].
