New Day Dawning by [J.R.] - I'm not so keen on this one. It's another 'Avon as victim' PGP and I dislike an Avon who keeps bursting into tears. Besides, Blake is miraculously uninjured, Avon is in hospital and the Feds have vanished as if by magic. This just isn't my sort of story, although if you happen to like Avon and Blake both shedding buckets as they realise their feelings for one another, then I'm sure you'll love it.[1]
elviaprose sent me an email when she was most of the way through the zine. it simply read: If you haven't read New Day Dawning yet...you have been warned.oh dear, yes. this fic is indeed a classic example of the PGP fics i dislike - blake is very angry, avon is very guilty, blake demands that avon leave, avon tries to kill himself, blake's doctors heal avon and blake throws him out anyway. avon goes away into the wastes of GP crying and feeling sorry for himself, blake... comes across him by accident? (i think) and avon cringes back from him, but tells blake he loves him, blake accepts this and starts crying and then they have sex and it is ok.
le sigh. it's especially bad because it follows on from 'finally come home', which is the same premise, but clever and funny and based on plausible awkwardness, rather than weepy over-the-top... dullness.[2]
