From the Editorial

Dear Reader:

LOVE HAS NOT FORGOTTEN YOU is not an attempt to rewrite the third season. The events of that season are dealt with, expanded upon and enhanced with other possibilities. This story simply picks up four years after Jacob's birth and deals with Catherine's survival.

I realize the concept is not new. I've read some very interesting Catherine returns stories. What I've attempted to do here is throw into the pot some issues that have not been examined and perhaps explore, a little further, some that have been raised before. I've tried to maintain the integrity of the characters as faithfully as I could while pushing them into some explosive situations. You'll find my Catherine a strong and determined woman, battling to get her life back and my Vincent, a changed man who finally accepts his humanity and begins to trust in love instead of live in fear.

I would be interested in your thoughts on this particular version of what could be, so please don't hesitate to write. Also, let me know if you would be interested in a sequel.

Reactions and Reviews

Diana has concealed from V her knowledge that C survived in a coma from which no one could guarantee she'd recover. Four years after the events of 3rd season, amnesiac Karen/Catherine returns to New York to recover her memory and is reunited with V (enormously angry at Diana, whom he's firmly told on several occasions he could never love). Danger threatens, however, in the person of Gabriel's brother Gideon, whose plans are eventually foiled. Possible romance for Diana and Joe as well as much graphic V/C sex.

An original element in this telling is C's having to work through accumulated fury repressed during her ordeal. Otherwise, not greatly different from the many SND scenarios in similar zines. Though Diana had (it seems) the best of intentions (even C retroactively supports her decision to keep silent, and Peter also knew of C's survival) Vincent's anger and some literal Diana-bashing by Gideon's minions presumably put that interloper firmly in her place - namely, outside the family circle of Vincent, Catherine, and Jacob - and punish her for her presumption in supposing V could love anyone but a surviving C.

Very handsome artwork by Sandy Chandler Shelton. [1]
