I just find this coda so appropriate for that episode, and even though - of course - Gracie's kidnapping takes centre-stage, it is nice to have that voice mail addressed and worked into the situation too. Though, the way things are with Danny and Rachel, that voicemail seems to not need an explanation - I love how they could be friends now who love each other, and not oscillate between anger and regret and residual in-love-ness. I hope the writers don't fuck this dynamic up, as they have for nearly everything in season 2. Anyway, long story short, I absolutely loved and needed this coda. ♥[2]
Oh, I love this. So full of emotion. Poor Steve willing to even give up Danny to Rachel igf thyat makes him happy....the goof! Thank goodness Danny knows our boy so well and goes to him, reassures him, loves him, just as much as Steve loves him!! They both got through a terrible day...everyone's alive, Grace back safe, Sytan taken a bullet for her, and Steve and Danny together.....perfect ending![3]
My heart! I love how you put into words the Steve and Danny subtext. Beautifully told and totally in synch with what was shown on screen. Lovely, heartfelt story of the depth of feelings between Steve and Danny.[4]
I love the tender vulnerability that Steve shows here. I did see some of the same concern in the episode. Steve is so full of doubt and angst when it comes to Danny. He fears he doesn't deserve him - that Danny will always love Rachel and is convinced that Danny will leave him again once Rachel gives him the chance. Thank God, at least in fan fic that he never plans to leave Steve. Danno has Steve's back as a partner, a best friend and a lover. Thanks for the story[5]
