Hiccup Horrendous Haddock III, or just Hiccup, is the main character in the How to Train Your Dragon series.
Canon Background
- "My name's Hiccup. Great name, I know. But it's not the worst. Parents believe a hideous name will frighten off gnomes and trolls."[1]
His full name is Hiccup Horrendous Haddock the Third, the Hope and Heir to the Tribe of the Hairy Hooligans, though this is never stated in the movie universe. He is the son of the chief, Stoick the Vast and Valka (Valhallarama in the book!verse), thus making him heir to the tribe. In the first film he is 15 years old, as well as in the specials and the series, and 20 in How To Train Your Dragon 2. By the second movie, he has been in a relationship with Astrid Hofferson for nearly 4 years, and are apparently engaged by the time of the second movie. His dragon, Toothless, is a Night Fury, the rarest and most intelligent of the dragon species in the film.
