Entwined in Trine is a charity zine centered around the pairing SoRiKai (Sora, Riku, and Kairi) from the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

Over eighteen years ago Kingdom Hearts first introduced us to Sora, Kairi, and Riku. The trio of islanders have been separated and reunited many times over, but remain connected through it all, no matter what.

Their lives and destinies are forever interwoven, And they continue to choose to tie their fates together, regardless of what the future may bring.

we seek to show and celebrate their bond and love for each other through our zine project.[1]

After opening a Tumblr account in September 2019 and sharing multiple fanart of the zine's focused ship, the mod team launched interest checks beginning on January 29, 2020, to February 29, 2020[2]. The project did not have a confirmed title until February 10, 2020, when the project's URL was changed to its official name[3]. Mod applications began on the same day through February 29, 2020[4]. Applications for artists and writers opened on March 6, 2020, and were expected to end on March 27, 2020[5]. In light of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, contributor applications were extended to April 5, 2020[6].

Preorders opened on August 9, 2020, with the following pricing tiers[7]:

  • Crown of the Heavens ($15 USD) - Digital Zine, Icons, Desktop Wallpaper, Emojis, Digital Postcard, Printable Bookmark
  • Heart of the Shore ($30 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine
  • Sea of Stars ($40 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Print, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Charm
  • Destinies Entwined ($50 USD) - Physical Zine, Digital Zine, Print, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Charms, Button, Enamel Pin, Washi Tape

Additional digital merchandise called "Hearts Trined" could be added onto physical orders for $5 USD. An acrylic standee is also available for $15 USD[8]. Stretch goals include an additional printed postcard for higher tiers at 50 physical orders, an embroidered patch at 100 physical orders, digital coloring pages at 100 digital orders, and a third and final stretch goal that was never unlocked[9]. Preorders ended on October 10, 2020[10].

Orders began shipping out on March 28, 2021[11]. The project's team last posted on May 21, 2021, that all digital zines and merchandise had been sent out[12].

Second sales were expected to happen near the end of the year, but on a post in September 4, 2022, the project's social media account reported that they were unable to do so. The project posted their donation of $876.52 USD to the Organization for Transformative Works[13]. No new update has been made at the time of documentation.
