Eclipse of the Heart is a zine focused on the pairings Isa/Saïx and Lea/Axel from the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

The zine was announced on April 28, 2019, as a project for both artists and writers[1]. Applications for the zine began on May 11, 2019 and closed on May 27th with a reported total of 133 applications[2]. Emails for selected contributors were sent out on July 13, 2019[3].

Preorders of the zine began on September 20, 2019, and would end on October 6th through Storenvy[4]. Buyers could purchase the zine in digital and print format, in addition to more tiers such as the Full Moon Tier, which offered the physical zine along with stickers, acrylic keychains, a print, and heart shaped buttons. During this time, a giveaway for its Full Moon Tier started on opening day[4]. Digital copies continued to be avaialble for purchase after preorders closed.

Digital copies of the zine that were preordered were sent out on November 9, 2019[5]. Physical orders were delayed due to production errors and missing merchandise, and would begin shipping out on December 14, 2019[6].

The project's digital store was slated to reopen for leftover sales on March 16, 2020, but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic happening worldwide at this time[7]. Leftover sales finally opened from August 10 to September 1, 2020[8].

Meanwhile, as everyone waited for the restrictions to end and for leftover sales to begin, the zine's organizers announced in early August that the proceeds made from the leftovers and all digital purchases would be donated to charities[9]. The project closed on October 1, 2020, with a donation of $700 USD equally divided between The Okra Project and the Lebanese Red Cross[10].
