Thinking of you wherever you are.

When you hear of the line "Kingdom Hearts" what do you think of? For some, it's that game that is a collaboration between Square Enix and Disney. For others, it's that franchise that is known to be quite complex for a crossover. But for us, Kingdom Hearts is that one game that brings forth those feelings of nostalgia, joy and love in our hearts.

More than 15 years have passed since the original release of the first Kingdom Hearts in 2002. Now, we’d like to step up and celebrate this upcoming year as well as the long-awaited third numbered title to the series by bringing artists together to create an art zine compiling fanworks for series we have come to cherish. The zine has 90 + artists with 100+ pieces of artwork, spread out across the 120 page book.

The zine was first announced approximately in early February 2017, as evidenced through reblogged Tumblr posts going as far back as that month[2]. Applications for the zine opened on November 3, 2017, and ended approximately at the beginning of December. Results were sent out approximately from December 5 to December 6, 2017.

Preorders opened on March 28, 2018, with the following pricing tiers[3]:

  • Simple and Clean ($30 USD) - Physical Zine
  • Sanctuary ($45 USD) - Physical Zine, Washi Tape, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Keychain
  • We'll Go Together ($50 USD) - Physical Zine, 2 Random Preorder Bonuses
  • Don't Think Twice ($60 USD) - Physical Zine, Washi Tapes, Sticker Sheet, Acrylic Keychains, Heart Badge, Enamel Pin

Preorders were expected to end on April 24, 2018, but they were put on hold briefly approximately on March 31, 2018, in response to frustrations regarding relatively high international shipping prices[4]. In this update, the mods urged customers from the United States and Canada to hold off on purchasing until new shipping prices were finalized, and existing buyers would be refunded until then.

The project reopened preorders again with reduced shipping fees for the United States, Canada, United Kingdom, and select European areas on approximately April 5, 2018[5]. The zine team also offered customers the accessible option of buying the zine for pickup at Anime Expo 2018 and SMASH! 2018, The deadline for preorderes was extended to April 28, 2018.

Packing for physical orders began on July 31, 2018[6]. The first of physical orders were sent out apprxoimately after August 1, 2018[7]. Shipping of all physical orders were finished approximately right after September 28, 2018[8].

The proceeds made from the zine were donated to the Australian Childhood Foundation.
