Cross the Line is a zine of fanart and fanfiction for the pairing SoRiku from the Kingdom Hearts games.

About

The zine's social media accounts were launched around January 2019. In an answer to an anonymous question about the zine's theme, the mod team answered the theme was "to cross the line" based on the lyrics from "Don't Think Twice", Utada Hikaru's theme song for Kingdom Hearts III. The mod team elaborate on this theme as follows:

Kiss me once, Kiss me twice, Kiss me three times, Cross the line.

to cross the line- (idiomatic) to transcend a boundary, rule, or limit.

Perhaps to you, crossing a line is a betrayal, or a leap of faith, or maybe it’s taking the next step in a relationship. From friends to rivals or friends to lovers, navigating the Worlds or wedding plans- we look forward to seeing how you interpret this theme!

Applications opened approxmiately on February 28, 2019, and ended on March 25, 2019. In a later update, the mod team reported a total of 179 artist applications and 52 writer applications.

Preorders opened from August 1 to August 31, 2019, with the following pricing tiers:

• Kiss Me Twice ($45 USD) - Physical Zine, Journal, Postcard, Sticker Sheet, Buttons, Double-sided Charm
• Kiss Me Three Times ($45 USD) - Physical Zine, Journal, Acrylic Standee, Sticker Sheet, Enamel Pins
• Don't Think Twice ($35 USD) - Journal, Sticker Sheet, Postcard, Double-sided Charm, Acrylic Standee, Buttons, Enamel Pins
• Everthing I Dreamed Of ($60 USD) - Physical Zine, Journal, Sticker Sheet, Postcard, Double-sided Charm, Acrylic Standee, Buttons, Enamel Pins

To celebrate gaining over 500 followers, a giveaway for two full bundles was hosted starting August 27 to September 8, 2019. The winners of the giveaway were announced to be Twitter user mochakawa1 and Tumblr user rikudera.

Physical orders began shipping out approximately around October 23, 2019. Digital zines were mailed out on November 2, 2019.

Second sales began on November 9, 2019, until supplies ran out. The project's digital storefront closed for good on November 30, 2019.

A donation annoncement was made on January 10, 2020, reporting that $1,285 USD was donated to the Organization for Transformative Works. The zine's social media accounts would later be renamed and repurposed for a new zine project, Soriku Ever After.
