boysinchains was a multifandom slash fan fiction mailing list (with a companion archive, Boys in Chains) devoted to stories about "power inequalities" or "structurally unequal relationships." The original archive categories were slavefic, prisonfic, hookerfic, Tie Me Up Fic – the archive's category for BDSM themes. The mission statement was expanded on 29 May 2007 to "make it clear that list members may post fan fiction and original fiction in the categories of m/m slash, f/f slash, gen, and het. Yaoi, yuri, and gay/lesbian fiction are also welcomed."[1]

boysinchains was first located at eGroups, before eGroups was bought by Yahoo!Groups.[2]

Description of the group:

An adults-only fan fiction and original fiction list for those of us who think certain characters scream to be enslaved, imprisoned, or bound. Discussions of fiction are welcome, but discussions of real-life matters are off-topic unless they relate to the fiction discussions. In other words, this isn't a place to post ads or dating requests.

Stories may be about slaves, prisoners, prostitutes, or BDSMfic/leather. Fiction about any fandom may be posted, as well as non-fan (original) fiction. Gen, het, slash/yaoi/gay, and femslash/yuri/lesbian stories are all welcome here. Please label your stories, because not every slash reader reads gen and het and femslash, and vice versa.

For more information, please visit the Boys in Chains archive.

This list is a co-sponsor of the LiveJournal community powerfic. Related lists are DMMF (male/male gen and slash darkfic) and hierarchicalfic (male/male gen and slash stories involving hierarchy)."[3]
