Blank Slate: A Kingdom Hearts Coloring Book is a coloring book zine featuring characters from the Kingdom Hearts franchise.

About

Blank Slate is an unofficial Kingdom Hearts coloring book project featuring work from 28 stellar artists. This coloring book includes 32 illustrations on hefty 100lb text paper—so it will hold up to all manners of coloring styles and materials. Blank Slate will also be available as a print-at home set with a PNG line pack for digital artists. With a beautiful merch line and a host of great bundles, we hope to have a little something for everyone![1]

The project was announced relatively early August 2020. The for-profit project would be in black and white and centered around gen art only[2]. Interest checks began on August 10, 2020[3]. They were expected to end on August 23, 2020, but closed early on August 16 due to a large response[4]. The project reported nearly 300 responses[5]. Contributor applications ran from August 24 to September 6, 2020[6].

Preorders opened on Decemeber 25, 2020 with the following pricing tiers[7]:

  • Blank Slate ($25 USD) - Physical Book
  • Valor Bundle ($35 USD) - Physical Book, Postcards, Sticker Sheet, Washi Tape
  • Limit Bundle ($45 USD) - Physical Book, Postcards, Sticker Sheet, Washi Tape, Ruler, Die Cut Stickers
  • Anti Bundle ($40 USD) - Postcards, Sticker Sheet, Washi Tape, Ruler, Die Cut Stickers, Stamps, Standee
  • Master Bundle ($60 USD) - Physical Book, Postcards, Sticker Sheet, Washi Tape, Ruler, Die Cut Stickers, Stamps, Standee
  • Final Bundle ($75 USD, Limited to 100) - Physical Book, Postcards, Sticker Sheet, Washi Tape, Ruler, Die Cut Stickers, Stamps, Standee, Pencil Case

The final bundle, limited to 100 copies, sold out by January 3, 2021[8]. The project ran a giveaway starting January 1, 2021, for one Final Bundle[9]. The giveaway ended on January 15 and the winner was announced to be Twitter user katietriffy[10]. Preorders closed on January 25, 2021[11].

Shipping of physical orders was estimated to begin on April 4, 2021, as there was an update on March 6 explaining that the shipping date had to be pushed to April due to the lunar new year[12]. On the day before the expected shipping date, the project's social media account posted a teasing picture of stacks of packages ready to be sent[13]. Digital copies were sent shortly after. Leftover sales opened on May 1, 2021, and would last until May 25, 2021[14].

My @KhZine Blank Slate finally arrived! Here's a short thread of all the stuff that came with my Final Form Bundle!

The box was nicely designed and all the contents came to me undamaged and in great condition! We also have a short page with the contributors and the book itself!

Next we have the small pencil pouch (front and back!) which will be PERFECT for my Stream Journal stuff!

We also have a super cute ruler and all of the stickers and postcards! All of them are ready for coloring!

I think I wanna color the stickers and put them on my PC case!

Finally we have the stamps, washi tape, and the reusable dry-erase acrylic standee.

The stamps will be used for all my thank you cards for future charity events.

I just love collecting washi tape
