BEYOND BEGINNINGS Is a new series of novel-length zines by the author of Daybreak - From Shadows Into Light. The books will offer "Beauty and the Beast" fans an exploration of Vincent and Catherine's journey toward their "Happy Life."
BEYOND BEGINNINGS - Book I starts approximately six months after Vincent's breakdown at the end of Second Season. The storyline assures that everything happened just as we saw it up until the moment Catherine entered the dark, desolate cavern and screamed Vincent's name. At that point, the story spins off in another direction, totally dismissing Third Season as a hideous nightmare, and instead presents other options which give Catherine and Vincent the chances they so richly deserve.
BEYOND BEGINNINGS is romantic, sensual, and optimistic. Full of light and hope, it brings Vincent and Catherine through their doubts and fears and leads and them into a life together. The journey is not without its conflicts and obstacles; however, they are all emotional in nature, rather than physically dangerous or life-threatening. In fairness to readers who may seek an action-packed adventure novel, I must emphasize that BEYOND BEGINNINGS is a romance.'
Its suspense and tension arises solely from the excitement of exploring the relationship of two loving and unique people who yearn for a life together. It Is a story full of laughter and tears, tenderness and passion, desires and dreams came true.
Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1
This alternative 3rd season novel points toward further developments rather than resolving the issues it raises. In it, C's switching from "street investigation" to family cases has eliminated the need for V to rescue her, easing their minds and spirits. C is now free to concentrate on the really important things, like how to combine the fragrances of her perfume and her shampoo into a potpourri sachet pillow, a gift for V. And he's free to decide whether he's bold enough to give her an antique Valentine's day card with a message of undying love. Written in a literate, rather ponderous prose style that tends to grow on you, this substantial opening section of what's clearly intended to be an ongoing story presents the small delights and anticipations of V/C's deepening involvement with one another despite Father's mistrust and opposition.
