Amber was a prolific and highly acclaimed writer whose popslash stories amassed a large, enthusiastic following. Despite the incredible breadth and variety in her fiction, her name eventually became synonymous with tragic, depressing storylines as she was notoriously unafraid of denying her characters a happy ending.

As Elizabeth, she made significant contributions to Roswell, X-Men, Buffy the Vampire Slayer, and Angel fandoms as well as dabbling in Smallville, Everwood and Harry Potter. Her fiction was posted on the now defunct ficorama.net, which she also maintained.

When she began writing popslash she switched to a new online pseudonym, possibly in order to separate her RPF from the rest of her fiction. And thus, Amber was born. She also separated the new fic from her older work, housing her popslash at illuminations.nu as part of the JustSoPretty collective. (She created a new Livejournal account to mark the change as well: wavinggrain, which has since been purged.)

Amber's popslash ran the gamut. She wrote AUs, crossovers, tragedy, comedy, dystopian-science fiction, restructured fairy tales, regency AUs and even hookerfic. Most of her stories focused on *Nsync (with a special focus on Chris Kirkpatrick, of whom she seemed particularly fond), but the Backstreet Boys, Britney Spears and Eminem made occasional appearances as well.

Amber pulled all of her fiction off of illuminations.nu in late 2005/early 2006, and seemingly withdrew from fannish life altogether; ficorama.net was soon shut down as well. Both sites were blocked from the Wayback Machine, making any retrieval of her stories nearly impossible. The prevailing rumor at the time was that she planned to go pro, intending to revise some of her more popular fics in the hope of publication.

As recently as 2006-2007 she wrote and posted a small selection of fics in fandoms as varied as The Bourne Series, Prison Break and The Office, but she seems to have kept these confined to just her Livejournal.

The mark Amber made on fandom can't be underestimated. Years after her work disappeared from the internet, it still isn't unusual to overhear fans discussing specific fics, either searching for extant files or merely reminiscing.
