Author's Note

From the zine:

The idea for this story first began to germinate about 11 years ago, after I read a gothic novel about a modern woman who got stuck in seventeenth century England. It wasn't a very good book, but the concept stayed in my head, and I often wondered what it would be like to be trapped in an earlier time without such necessities as blow-driers, blue jeans and pizza.

Up until about a year and a half ago, I had very little interest in STAR TREK; but then the bug bit me, and almost overnight I became a rabid Trekkie, much to the dismay of my family and friends. I read everything I could get my hands on that pertained to STAR TREK, became actively involved in fandom and began dealing at conventions.

Meanwhile, I hadn't forgotten the time travel idea, and I realized I could tie it in with STAR TREK by having the ENTERPRISE crew show up to rescue the stranded heroine. Last September I sat down and started to write. I originally planned a short story, but the thing seemed to grow of its own volition; and by the time I was finished I had a short novel.
