Reactions and Reviews: Issue 1

My first look at this zine was greeted by blue, yellow, and red pages. Quite out of the ordinary. TREKFEST is a new humor zine that has something going for it. In 8 pages it is packed with fun and some info. TREKFEST has a continuing story, "Captain Captain, Kirk Kirk". It is about the Enterprise on a secret mission so secret that they have to use the doubletalk ploy. Yes, you guessed it, everyone everyone says says everything everything twice twice! ! The first part of the story was on 3 different pages in TREKFEST, but it was worth looking for. The rest of the zine contains con reports, an editorial, some ST news, columns like: Dear Amanda, Trekker's letters, Fan of the Month; all funny of course. Two humorous articles stand out of the zine: Dateline 2001: An Earth Fantasy uses word plays on STAR TREK actor's names and what they have done recently. My personal favorite is the STAR TREK Do-It Yourself Rumor Kit. Imagine Majel Barrett Roddenberry is dying of cancer, Harlan Ellison is actually a virgin, Al Schuster threw something off the Tallahasehee bridge, or Joan Winston is only in STAR TREK for the money. All of this is available through the STAR TREK Rumor Kit.

All in all, TREKFEST is a very good fanzine for a humorous format. My only thought is why $1 pricetag for 8 pages? It is sent 1st class though. On a scale from 1-10 It would rate an 8.

(late note: TREKFEST #2 is just out. The price $1.) [1]

Issue 2

Trekfest v.1 n.2 was published in very early 1977.

It cost a dollar.
