Titanic is a 1997 film that follows two fictional characters on their journey onboard the infamous Titanic ship. The film starred Leonardo DiCaprio as Jack Dawson and Kate Winslet as Rose DeWitt Bukater.
Fandom History
Titanic fandom reached the height of its activity during 1997-1999, the years immediately following the film's release. Activity in this fandom predated the development of sites such as Fanfiction.net and Livejournal, and mostly revolved around webpages hosted on Geocities and Angelfire, connected by webrings. Fanfiction from this period was largely archived at now-defunct sites titanicstories.com and Kate and Leo Fanfiction Cafe, and some of it remains accessible by the Wayback Machine.
The last remaining archive from this era is Anne's Story Page, which was last updated in 2012, and still accessible as of April 2023.
