I’m taking a detour off the comm path to rec this fantastic story. It’s heartbreaking, but hopeful. There’s a major character death that happens prior to the story, but this is due South – is death really the end? Gorgeously painful in spots, and terrifically characterized throughout, I’ve read this story more times than I can count. I was shocked that it hadn’t been recced before, and am mightily pleased to rec it now. [1]
Death fic but do not let this put you off. Happy ending. Arrow is one of my favorite due South writers. This piece is a perfect example why: it's evocative, smart, atmospheric, in short, beautifully written. [2]
