"What do you know of Hellguard?"

"Never heard of it," McCoy answered.

"I have," Kirk leaned forward. "It had been a Romulan experimental station. They deserted it leaving personnel behind." "Leaving the old, infirmed and children ages five to twelve, some six hundred of them, half Romulan, half Vulcan."

"But that's impossible!" McCoy interrupted.

Jim turned to him surprised. "Unfortunate perhaps, Bones, but not impossible."

"Jim, you don't understand..."

Lara took up the thread of her story. "What Dr.McCoy is referring to is a matter of Vulcan biology. Vulcans are only fertile during the height of hormone activity."

"Pon Far?" The words were out of Jim's mouth before he could stop them.
