Talk:The Torino

Thank you MPH for adding a link between this page and the Dean/Impala one! (Fanlore teaches more great things about other fandoms.) So, one more such, er, loving relationship and we can make a superset trope page -- or (pairing?) category? -- for "Characters Obsessed with their Cars" yes? ;> --Sk 05:27, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Hey, thanks! Character and their beloved cars, it's a fun trope. I actually only read/know extensively two fandoms, so my knowledge base is a bit hindered when it comes to locating examples for things like this. --Mrs. Potato Head 13:27, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
It's not a car, but Kirk/Enterprise is the same basic concept... --Greenygal 16:06, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
Jack Sparrow/The Black Pearl? --Anenko 16:08, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
And of course there's the longtime Doctor/TARDIS pairing/speculation (kindly made canon in the most recent season), and I think I've seen mentions of Kaylee/Serenity for Firefly more than once? (I think we have enough examples for a page along the lines of Characters Exceedingly Fond of Their Mode of Transport (or, er, something)... Also, is there enough of a Laurence/Temeraire ship or pairing to qualify, or do Characters Exceedingly Fond of their (sentient) animal mode of transport not quite fit/make it too broad? --Sk 18:07, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I think sentient animals would be a bit too broad. Perhaps another page, such as (fantastic) animal companions? That could cover non-romantic relationships, too, such as the psychic bonds in Pern and Valdemar (although I know nothing of how fandom treats those relationships in fic). --Anenko 20:50, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
I couldn't stop myself from stubbing out the new trope page. If anyone has more examples or changes or anything, please whack away at it! :) --Sk 01:40, 11 February 2012 (UTC)

Shouldn't the link on the page go to Metallicar instead of the pairing page? --Doro 17:32, 10 February 2012 (UTC)

Any reason it can't be on both? --Mrs. Potato Head 17:52, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
That sounds like it'd work to me. (My interpretation is that the intention was to showcase the similarity in intense affection -- and for the Impala there's a pairing page highlighting that as well as a car-as-character page with some though lesser mentions, while for the Torino there isn't a pairing page but the intense affection does get mentions on the character page.) --Sk 18:07, 10 February 2012 (UTC)
