"Stargazer"

The term "stargazer" in the signature referenced on this page is not a name for the pairing or its supporters, it's a reference to the user's "role" on the SCUSA "ship". Fans would claim roles such as captain, first mate, and eventually more idiosyncratic titles like this. This fan is also "Ship's Cat on the HMS Red Moon" and "Ship's Doctor aboard the HMS Honks"... --sparc 01:34, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

spac could you then modify the article for me? If it's not a nuisance of course. I don't really understand FictionAlley, when I arrived it was already on its way, if you know what I mean. I thought it was another name, sorry for the mistake -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 02:00, 24 September 2021 (UTC)

Looks like you handled it, thanks. I added a little of this context to the SCUSA page. --sparc 02:23, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

When/how was this term used?

I added a Needs Citation flag to this page because I haven't been able to find evidence that this term was commonly used. There are no results on LiveJournal via Google for "puppylover". The only example I can find is a comment on "something's lost in translation", where a fan says "...Remus/Sirius for a while had the puppylovers and then the 'other' group". Which I would guess maybe to mean fluff fans versus "serious" shippers? But I can't find anything else to suggest that this was really a term used for such a group.

Furthermore, is there any support that the Remus/Sirius was "first called puppylove in the mid-2000s" then was "renamed"? My impression was that "puppylove" was just a less common, cutesy name for the pairing playing on the term puppy love. "Puppyshipping"/"puppyshipper" was more common IME, and almost definitely goes back further than the mid-2000s. I'm not sure this needs a glossary page at all. --sparc 02:23, 27 September 2021 (UTC)

there are challenge communities called Puppylove on LJ. that's where I got the date from the 2000s period. more specifically, 2005. the name was changed because nowadays no one calls it so the most famous now seems to be Sirem (in Brazil and Latino fandoms oh hispanohablantes = Spanish speakers) or Wolfstar. HMS Wolfstar and the others I never read around besides Fanlore The abbreviations I saw and a lot of course. I was going to add more info to this page but I got into a looping of -- a lot of energy with a lot of downtime -- the September stub consumed me and a lot ◉‿◉ -- Ellakbhesse (talk) 02:41, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
Do these communities use the term "puppylovers" for themselves? If not, maybe this page should be called Puppylove. But is there much more to say on a glossary page that can't just go on the Remus/Sirius page? We don't generally create glossary pages for ever version of a ship name. They'd usually be redirects to the ship page. --sparc 04:29, 27 September 2021 (UTC)
