What is a personal zine? --Doro 21:02, 27 March 2010 (UTC)

Not 100% sure, but I assume it's like the paper version of a personal website, or the fan variant of the egozine, i.e. you make a zine to publish just your own stuff, without material from others.--RatCreature 21:39, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
I'm trying to figure it out. As I work through these reviews in Sonic Screwdriver, I see the term a lot. I'm trying to figure out if it is a word used solely by the reviewer, or if it is something specific to the Doctor Who fandom. This fandom is actually quite different from others in a sense that A: it's very male-centric, B: the line between pro-zine and fanzine is very blurred and coupled with the seeming desire of Doctor Who fans to make their zines as "professional" as possible, ie glossy covers, much overlap with the actual stars of the show, C: the vast numbers of little single-run, itty-bitty zines out of the UK done by one person, and the tiny amount of info known about them, D: the small amount of fiction generated compared to the large amount of reviewing and pontificating are just some of my observations. This fandom is much like the Sherlock Holmes but with a kooky edge. And it has much to do with an element of Blake's 7, though there were other elements to that one that don't come into play here. I'd be tempted to say it's maybe the British flavor/element, yet I don't see any of it in The Professionals at all. To make a long explanation even longer, I'm wondering if 'personal zine' is a term used to represent these tiny, one-man operations. In the end, I added the definition to this enty but don't know if I should have. --Mrs. Potato Head 21:45, 27 March 2010 (UTC)
