Summaries

From the distributor:

Jim is still a soldier who meets a young (16 yrs old) hitchhiker out for a summer to remember before he begins college. They part at the end of the summer, visiting once before Jim goes back on assignment. Jim’s lost in Peru, and Blair must go on about his life. His life is turned upside down when he sees Jim at a crime scene, a Jim who doesn’t know him, or remember their love.

From an AMC Press flyer:

This is a wonderful AU story where Jim, while he is still in the military, meets Blair, who is sixteen and hitchhiking across the country before starting college. After a sweet summer together, Blair leaves for school and Jim resumes his career. Jim visits Blair at school and they resume their relationship until Jim returns to work and is sent to Peru. After awhile, and not hearing from Jim, Blair hears about the helicopter crash. Believing Jim dead, Blair tries to resume his life until over a year later, he sees Jim at a crime scene...a Jim that has been married and doesn't even remember who Blair is. From then on, it is a quest for Blair to have Jim's memory (and love for him) returned. This is a powerful story full of angst, plot, steamy love scenes and fantastic reading.

Reactions and Reviews

Personally, this is one of my favorite zines--in *any* fandom. It has every element I crave in a story this size, with absolutely beautiful illos. Whenever I'm asked to recommend a zine, this one comes up first. Young Blair, First-time, H/C, Angst, and the entire beginning of the story reminds me of that sweet agonizing pain of the first time of falling in love. Beautifully done! But Blair isn't the only one to go through changes, Jim suffers a few of his own. From a young and brash army officer to a tough detective faced with the cruel realities of his job, we see the transformation and emergence of Jim's sentinel abilities as well as his struggle to understand and control them. [1]

In this story, Jim and Blair met years before when Lieutenant Ellison picked up a rain-soaked, hitchhiking teenager. What follows is a beautiful story of coming of age, finding love, finding yourself, memory and loss, which culminates in a rather brilliant playing out of first season canon to make this less of an AU and more of a might-have-been. Come read and get your heart broken.[2]
