Reili von Wildcat, aka kisforkurama or flyingthesky, is a prolific fanwriter (as well as podficcer, remixer, vidder and fanartist). Primarily active on DreamWidth and LiveJournal, she has created more than 400 works that span a variety of fandoms, with a prominent focus on RPF. She has also written fan primers and fannish essays on various subjects, most notably on the validity of RPF.[1]

YouTube Slash

Reili was a BNF in early 2010 YouTube RPF, specifically #y_slash, which centered around popular vloggers. It was also a mod for YouTube Slash, an lj comm that was popular from 2010 - 2013. It hosted the YouTube Slash kinkmeme, which ran from 2011 to 2013, and is one of the last surviving vestiges of #y_slash fandom.

The YouTube Slash Kinkmeme

Also known as the '#y_slash kinkmeme, it ran from March 9, 2011 to October, 2013, and garnered over 400 comments (a respectable number for such a smaller fandom).[2] With the deletion of the YouTube Slash lj comm, it (and therefore, Reili's livejournal as a whole) is one of the few (if not the only) early 2010s examples of YouTube RPF livejournal fandom.

The Mermaid Fic

On December 16, 2010, Reili posted a post entitled "[fanfiction] #tweetfic and technical exercises", a fic roundup post of various ficlets. Some of them were collectively titled "the one where sons of admirals are mermaids".[3]

On December 18, 2010 Tom Milsom tweeted:

Last thing: the one where Sons Of Admirals are mermaids and in love is amazing

--@hexachordal on Twitter[4]

There's a debate over how, exactly, he found the fic. Reili has at different points stated that it was the fault of Alex Day, or Teoh Lander-Boyce.[5]

Whoever it was, it eventually proliferated amongst the entire band, and led to the dubious fame of, in her own words, "an entire band read my fic and once a member used it as a punchline".[6]
