Excerpts

What made you start writing stories? Had you written fic in other fandoms?

I’ve always written stories, since I was a young child. That includes fanfic with my friends, but we didn’t know that it was called fanfic back then. I remember finding out what fanfic was a few years ago and looking for some, probably BSG fanfic, because I wanted to explore other, non-canonical possibilities. I then started writing fic for due South and the wider Canadian Six Degrees fandoms. I was writing Sherlock fanfic for a while, then I started writing Starsky and Hutch fanfic shortly after watching the series, and now it’s mostly Starsky and Hutch and Check Please! fanfic.

What is your favorite story that you wrote, and in the fandom.

I’ve written a lot of fics, and some are better than others. I don’t think I can choose a favorite. Partly this is because of being our own worst critics as writers, I think, but overall I feel as if my stories have strengths and weaknesses and I’m not sure one stands head and shoulders above the rest, especially considering that I’ve been active in fandoms since, I think, 2009, and my writing has evolved. My favorite story in Starsky and Hutch fandom is Lola’s “A Crooked Smile.” I love a good, sad story. The use of imagery is also masterful.
