InkyPop is a fanartist and a 3D Modeler, mainly for VRChat (VRC). They are most known for releasing Daycare Attendant and Helluva Boss avatars in VRC, but creates avatars for other Five Nights at Freddy's characters, as well for Undertale and Poppy Playtime. They release both free, public models and private, paid models. They also play Dead by Daylight, and make commentary and meme videos on TikTok about art theft.

Relationship with Fandom

VRChat

InkyPop releases various public and private models of Sun and Moon from FNAF into VRC, some of which are based on other artists' designs, and uploads them into their public VRC avatar world, which is based on Sun and Moon's rooms. As of January 2024 they have released over 24 variations of Sun and Moon for VRC. After many public (such as v.11) and private models (such as v.14) were taken without permission then reuploaded, or "ripped," they added a disclaimer into their avatar world warning visitors of inauthentic edits of their models. The disclaimer includes example ripped avatars ripped from free, public models (v.11), private models not for sale (v.14), and paid models (v.8).

In a Twitter thread, InkyPop commented on the relationship between 3D model artists and avatar rippers in VRC, however it only appears to be referring to ripping paid models:

You know, everytime me and fellow #3dartists warn against rippers, I always get the "Well rippers aren't bad people" argument. "They're just silly people, they don't *mean* harm." Which is nice and all, but people need to legitimately start treating rippers like a hate group against 3D artists, cause this group has caused so many problems in our lives and the amount of apathy that rippers and ripper supporters have for 3D artists is inhumane and hateful. Rippers/Ripper supporters do not think about what harm it does to the artist, they do not think about the amount of blood, sweat, and tears that were put into the model, no; They only care about stealing it because they couldn't use mommy's credit card or buy it themselves.

And a lot of the time btw, rippers will make up rumors about the original artist to justify their actions. They will come up with the most horrible shit imaginable to villainize you so people recognize you as "the p*do" or "the artist that killed my grandma" or whatever they want. Rippers/Ripper supporters will not hesitate to harass, bully, threaten, stalk, and dox over a 3D model; All of these things have happened to me and my fellow friends and will continue to happen. But as 3D artists, we're just supposed to be fine with it cuz "that's how it is" At this point, I *am* used to it and I'm pretty numb every time I see my stolen art in a VRChat world (Which is everyday mind you). But that should never be the case. I should never have to numb myself after years of my pride and joy getting stolen and taken away from me. I should never have to force myself to "let it go" just because someone decided to make my life worse with a click of a button. I should never have to train myself to not feel a thing over years of abuse just because "that's how it is".

The relationship between Rippers and 3D artists is abuse and it should be treated like that, period. The only option for 3D artists is to leave doing 3D art forever or make ALL your 3D art free to use. That is textbook abuse that rippers give 3D artists everyday, but it's fine ig. The worst part about this is that I know I'm just venting because nothing will get done by me saying any of this. I wish I could have a bigger impact on VRChat or the 3D artist community in general, but I don't. Nothing will get done about ripping until VRChat- decides to take better and easier measures against casual ripping. I made a clear video against ripped avatars and guess where that got me? Nowhere. It did nothing. If anything, the only thing that I got from it was ableism; But hey, I'm just supposed to be ok w that lol its fine. 3D artists are struggling enough as it is, and rippers only make that 10x worse for NO reason. It is purely out of greed and the amount of defense for rippers and ripped avatars is concerning. There is NEVER a good or decent reason to steal art, STOP trying to justify it.

Additionally, some InkyPop DCA public models were utilized for The Sun and Moon Show, including one original character. Some of InkyPop's thoughts on this are below:

Although they did not credit me at all for using my models or others models, I pushed it aside at first. What really got me to pay attention and change my mind was when they used my OC, Earth. I really did not like how they protrayed my character, didn't ask for permission to use it in a video where they can profit off it, and once again-- Did not credit me. It's true that all those models were public at the time (Infact, VER 6 Moon (Lunar) and VER 13 Moon (Killcode) are still public to this day). However, the core misunderstanding between the creators and I, was what you could do with my public models.

This would also apply to any other model they used of mine. The heartbreaking thing to see is that, even though it is done and over with, and even though they are discontinuing the use my models in their VRChat videos-- I still see people looking at VER 6 and VER 13 of my moon avatars and reconizing that as "the SAMS's" instead of my own.

I did not want to start a harassment thingy going on. I just didn't want my Earth to become theirs. But now, they have their own Earth design! And from the conversation we had, they told me they plan to have more designs from their team rather than from communities that has nothing to do with them like myself-- Which makes me very happy to hear!
