Good Charlotte is an American rock band that formed in 1996. The band was in the Warped Tour lineup for 2001, 2002, and 2004. It was a popular fandom for fanfic in the early 2000s, before the rise of Fueled By Ramen/MCR bandslash.
The current members are Joel Madden, Benji Madden, Paul Thomas, Billy Martin, and Dean Butterworth. Past members include Aaron Escolopio, Chris Wilson, Nathan Foutz, and Dan Cornish. See Wikipedia for more.
Fandom
Good Charlotte fic was so prevalent on LiveJournal that multiple communities mentioned it in frustration as their raison d'etre. In January 2004 takebackfiction was created "for those of us tired of struggling through thousands upon thousands of Good Charlotte crossovers in order to get to the good stuff underneath." In July 2004 rareslashpairs was created "for people who are sick of reading the regular Good Charlotte and Mest stories out there and are looking for something a little different."
Shipping
Based on the relative size of the livejournal communities, Joel Madden/Benji Madden (called "twincest") may have been the most popular Good Charlotte ship. Other ships include Benji Madden/Billy Martin, Joel Madden/Billy Martin, and crossover ships like Benji Madden/Tony Lovato (MEST).
A lot of Good Charlotte slash fic for various pairings was posted to slashypunkboys. One slashypunkboys member complained in early 2004 that the gcfanfics archive was mostly het self-insert stories[1], but as of November 2006, gcfanfics had an entire category devoted to twincest and another for other intraband slash pairings (het was still the largest category).[2]

- Fanfiction.net - As of June 2, 2002, ff.net had 634 GC fics (RPF was later banned). The biggest fandom in the music category at that time was N SYNC, with 10893 fics.

- fandomination.net - As of July 17, 2007, Good Charlotte was the largest subcategory under Musicians, with 4529 fics.
- Archive of Our Own - AO3 wasn't started until 2008, so Good Charlotte is a rarefandom there, with 73 works as of 2021.
