Powers and Abilities

His Stand, Gold Experience (Golden Wind), is based on the studio album The Gold Experience by Prince. As such, his name was changed to Golden Wind in English translations of the manga, anime, and video games in order to avoid copyright infringement issues.

Its primary ability is to inject life into an object or living creature by punching it. In the series, Giorno has been shown using his Stand to create living beings from inanimate objects, regenerate injured plants and animals, and send already living beings into a semiconscious state by punching them with his stand, causing them to become "overcharged" with life energy (citation needed).

Relationships

Giorno is initially presented as an independent mafioso, who later joins Bruno Bucciarati and his crew in order to take down Diavolo for selling drugs to children. His closest bonds through the series are with Guido Mista (who he shares the most battles with), Bruno (the man who took him under his wing), and Leone Abbacchio (while initially disliking him, learns to respect him and even gives him a dying clue to what Diavolo looks like).

Fandom

Giorno has had a mixed reception from the Western fanbase, but is still largely popular especially with the Japanese audience. This is because of his stoic personality compared to other JoJos such as Joseph, Josuke, and Johnny.

In online spaces like Twitter, the ladybug emoji (🐞) is often used by fans to represent Giorno.

Shipping

Being the main character of Vento Aureo, he gets plenty of time to interact with the main cast and is commonly shipped with other members of Bucciarati's crew. On AO3, his top 3 ships are:
