George/Angelina is the pairing in Harry Potter fandom involving George Weasley and Angelina Johnson. It was made canonical by J. K. Rowling in a post-Deathly Hallows interview. George and Angelina have two children, Roxanne Weasley and Fred Weasley II.

Rowling said of the pairing: "I think that [George] married Angelina, who was actually was Fred's ex ... Maybe it's a bit unhealthy, but I think that they would have been happy—as happy as he could be, without Fred. I think he really would have felt like part of himself died."[1]

Reception

George/Angelina is unique among the other interview-confirmed canon ships (incl. Draco/Astoria, Luna/Rolf, and Neville/Hannah) in that its announcement was met with a largely negative fan response. Many fans dislike the pairing because they shipped Fred/Angelina and/or see it as canonical.

Controversy regarding the pairing has also arisen in visual art communities, where artists are often accused of ignoring or erasing the George/Angelina pairing by whitewashing their children, especially Fred Weasley II.

Though its popularity has risen, the pairing is not often the focus of fanworks, though it often appears in the background of stories, particularly next-gen ones.
