Gem Asteria is a podficcer and host of "Danmei Podfics With Gem." Her podcast launched in December 2022.
Her podcast celebrates transforming inclusive, Chinese LGBTQI+ fan-written works into accessible stories. It’s an appreciation for small, talented writers and artists simply doing what they love, for fun and not for profit. By voicing stories written for fans, by fans, she hopes to amplify stories she loves so others will fall in love with them too, and explore the danmei genre.
All stories have been recorded with the permission or collaboration with the author. Gem also aims to highlight a different author for every story she reads, along with a different artist to design episode art. By taking her podfics out of typical fandom spaces such as Archive of our Own and cross-posting via streaming services, she hopes to reach a wider audience of listeners, story enthusiasts, and Boys Love consumers.
