GW Fandom Preservation Society was a Gundam Wing webpage opposing harassment, discrimination, and bullying in the fandom, specifically around canon versus fanon and fanfiction flaming.

Surprised? Don't be. All these events had occurred in the GW fandom before. Among anime fandoms, Gundam Wing fandom had a bad reputation of having too much politics and mudslingings. Much of the politics came from the debate over pairings, characterization, and official info. There is a clique in the GW fandom who is against official info because they want what they like to be official. In order to stop people from discovering the truth, they have gone through the length of flaming, stalking, slandering, and harrassing people. To keep people from speaking out or wanting to find out the truth, they attempt to discredit official info by stating that it does not exist and that the official info are falsities. When someone provided proofs of official sources, this group of people will go out of their way to either harrass the person, or threaten to sue the person for violation of copyright so that the proof can be removed. Using this tactics, this group of people had successfully wage a war wage a war of terrorism so that they may remove (official info) one aspect and control (interpretation) another aspect in the fandom. They want to get rid of official info, so that they may control people's interpretations. To wash themselves of the things they are guilty of, these people create clubs that are said to be against discriminations in Gundam Wing. By disguising themselves as champion of freedom of speech, they are free of any suspicions of guilt. Meanwhile, they accuse of those who don't share the same views with them of impeding the freedom of speech. When people do not write fics (yaoi and non-yaoi) the way they wanted, they will attempt to discredit the writer or imply that the writer is offending their fellow fans by writing a certain way, and that they're disappointed in the person. Utilizing guilt trips and manipulations, many writers had been flamed, threatened, and at the end, left the fandom. Once again to clear themselves of the guilt, these people accuse of those who disagree with them as the culprits who had kept the war going and thereby causing fans to leave the fandom.
