Dr. Benway was a fanwriter for various comic series, both Marvel and DC in the 1990s and 2000s, first appearing on ACFF around 1997. The online handle came from a character of the same name in William S. Burroughs' The Naked Lunch. He was known for the mature themes in his work, frequently delving into psychological horror and retelling canon with a particular "Benway" twist. His work X-Manson, in which he explores the X-Men as a delusional cult under the sway of Charles Xavier is his best known, but many of his works are considered the best of comics fanfic of the time. Unfortunately, his Fanfiction.net account has no content due to the NC-17 and R ratings his work typically has and he has no AO3 account, but a good percentage of his stories are available still at Comicfic.net.[1]
