From the Editorial

The main purpose of this zine is to provide a tribute of sorts to Columbo, and to all those who worked hard to make it a success. In addition to Peter Falk, who lives and breathes the role, due credit should also be given to series creators William Link and Richard Levinson, along with the talented writers, directors and actors who lent their talent to this long-running series of TV movies.

I've loved Columbo as a character and series for many years, and it's always appealed to me in ways that no other American TV detective series has. About the only real competition Columbo has is England's own Sherlock Holmes, as created by Conan Doyle. Although disimiliar in some resepcts, both characters do have some elements in common such as their tenacity and attention to small details.

However, as fascinating as Holmes is as a character, he lacks the essential human warmth of Columbo. At heart this humans goes a long way toward explaining the appeal of Falk's Columbo. Also his distinctive idiosyncrasies and mannerisms, much imitated by comedians and the like, further add to his appeal.

All of the articles in this zine are my own work apart from "Peter Falk: The Man Inside Columbo's Raincoat," which is a reprinted interview from a magazine dating back to the Seventies. As it's such in interesting insight into Falk and Columbo, I decided it was worth resting it, especially as it'll probably be new to most of you.
