Gender Assumptions?

I'm concerned about this recently-created subcat and the other similar subcats "Het Fanfiction by Relationship" and "Femslash Fanfiction by Relationship". "Slash Fanfiction by Relationship" currently contains subcats like "Star Trek TOS K/S Fanfiction" and "Steve Rogers/Tony Stark Fanfiction" which do not explicitly state that all fanfics within them must be M/M. With how often fanfics involve changing characters' canon genders, I'm not sure it's a good idea to organize these subcategories in this way. It seems to me like you're going to end up with a lot of het and femslash fanfics under "Slash Fanfiction by Relationship". --Endofthyme (talk) 07:50, 6 May 2024 (UTC)

Hey Endofthyme, thanks for starting this conversation. I've added the Gardeners flag for greater visibility. These relationship categories were already subcats of Het, Slash and Femslash Fanfiction categories, before the new subcats were created. But I'm not sure if that was discussed before! If we want to remove these subcats from those categories, there is a newly created Category:Fanfiction by Relationship, so they would still be categorzed under fanfiction, just not by het/slash etc. --Auntags (talk) 10:18, 6 May 2024 (UTC)
