David/Denton was a somewhat popular slash ship in the earliest Newsies fandom, pairing Bryan Denton and David Jacobs. It has fallen out of use, primarily because of the significant age gap between the characters.
Canon
Denton helps David and the other newsies to gain publicity for the strike.
Fandom
David/Denton appears in early archives with Newsies slash, including three fics on Tainted Wings (one with the note "NOT FOR DAVID FANS"). Het-focused fans were also aware of its existence, sometimes using it as a joke, and it appeared in some roleplays.[1][2] The shockfic Davey Gets Even included multiple references to it, with Davey denying the accusations.

In a word (or three), I. Loved. This. It seems Denton/Davey has disappeared as of late and I always found that pairing to be incredibly amusing (and near canon, to boot).
The ship appears very rarely in modern fandom, with only four works on AO3.
