Alex Louis Armstong is a character in the manga and anime series Fullmetal Alchemist.

Canon

Armstrong is a scion of the illustrious Armstrong family and a state alchemist.

In Brotherhood and the manga, he was one of the few members of the military to object to the slaughter of civilians in the Ishvalan War; he was sent home in disgrace for trying to help Ishvalans flee the warzone. In the present day of the story, he once again works for the military (working with Maes Hughes in Central Command). He helps the Elric brothers on several of their investigations, and joins Roy Mustang's coalition against the central government on Promised Day; though he mostly fights alongside his sister Olivier Armstrong and her men from Briggs.

Fandom

Some fans love Armstrong's bombastic personality and muscle flexing jokes, others find him annoying.

His catchphrase "<quality> passed down through the Armstrong family for generations!" and handshake with Sig Curtis are popular memes within the fandom.

Shipping

Armstrong is very rarely shipped; all ships involving him seem to be rarepairs.
