A Change of Grace is a Hanson fanfic by Sheryl and Karen, originally hosted by Tania at Boy Band Blues Fiction. The summary Jeanette has provided is as follows:
A Change of Grace is a Hanson fan fiction about Taylor who ends up traveling back in time to New York in the 19th century. There he meets Kathryn, Benjamin, Joshua and Grace among many others.The story follows both Taylor’s adventures in the past and Isaac and Zachary’s search for him in present (1997/1998) time.[1]
The story features a group of mysterious strangers called timekeepers responsible for weaving time and making sure it progresses as it should, who pull Taylor back in time to 1883 so that he may help correct the path that one of his ancestors has taken. In the end, Zac's untapped psychic abilities help return Taylor to the proper place in time. These skills were explored further in an unfinished sequel titled Lead the Dance. Journals by one of the characters from 1883 were also written as an extra.
Reactions and Reviews
While Sheryl could have used a good editor to make this story all it could be, I think it’s definitely worth a read. With a few details changed, it’s the sort of story that would hold up as original fiction, not just as a hanfic. That’s a very rare thing indeed.[2]
This story upped the ante on Hanson Fiction for me. It was an amazing story whether it starred Taylor Hanson or Joe Schmoe. It’s deep, it’s mysterious, it’s visual in a beautiful, satisfying way. Not to be missed.[3]
To tell you much more would be to ruin the story, but the joy of the story is not only in the time travel or the sci-fi aspect of it all. A big part of the joy is in the deep friendships that develop between the characters. Sheryl makes you really feel that these characters care about each other, and that makes the reader care. And that is really what storytelling is all about.[4]
One of the greatest. Written by Sheryl (of Walls & Roads) and Karen, this story captures the emotions of the Hansons no one else can. Taylor has been chosen to save history as we know it, but can he handle the whole world on his shoulders?[5]
This is one of the most amazing hanfics written so far. Sheryl is such an amazing writer! In this magical story 15-year-old Taylor has changed from a responsible, professional musician into someone entirely different.[6]
