23.5 Degrees is a Thai girls' love romantic comedy adapted from the novel, '23.5 องศาที่โลกเอียง' (23.5 When the Earth Is Spinning Around) by น้ำเงิน (Blue). 23.5 Degrees is GMMTV's first GL series.

High schooler, Ongsa, falls in love with popular student, Sun, but only dares approach her online under the pseudonym 'Earth'. When Sun presumes Earth is a guy, Ongsa finds herself keeping the secret going so she can keep talking to Sun. As Sun becomes increasingly curious over who Earth really is, and develops feelings for Earth, Ongsa has to decide whether to tell Sun the truth or not.

Controversies

In the early months of the show's announcement, in addition to the main couple of Ongsa/Sun played by Milk Pansa Vosbein and Love Pattranite Limpatiyakorn (also known as MilkLove as a pair), an M/M couple played by GMMTV's popular actors Nattawat Jirochtikul and Gemini Norawit, (known as GeminiFourth as a pair) were set to be the secondary couple for the series.

Some GL fans were unsure about this, both because there had initially been suggestions that 23.5 would be completely focused on GL and this announcement was a step away from that, and because some fans were worried that the BL couple would end up becoming the main focus due to GeminiFourth's popularity. The discourse over this escalated into a fandom war over a number of months between fans of MilkLove and fans of GeminiFourth[1].

In July 2023, GMMTV announced in a casting change that Gemini and Fourth would no longer appear in the series[2]. Later, View Benyapa and June Wanwimol were cast in secondary roles in the series instead, which people anticipated to be a secondary F/F couple.

In the fandom tag on AO3, a large proportion of the 23.5 Degrees works are focused on the characters Gemini and Fourth were due to play, North and Night.
