"Walpurgisnacht" is a Puella Magi Madoka Magica AMV created by TeSh. The video is set to an instrumental piece of music, and was posted to YouTube on 16 Feb 2011. As of 13 Sept 2021, it has over 629K views on YouTube.

"Walpurgisnacht" uses footage from the show to create an alternate timeline in which Akemi Homura works together with fellow magical girls Tomoe Mami, Miki Sayaka, andSakura Kyouko in an attempt save their classmate Kaname Madoka and the city of Mitakihara from the witch Walpurgisnacht.

Summary

"For anybody confused about this timeline:

Homura goes back in time to save Madoka. Unlike the anime timeline, when Mami offers her the grief seed as a peace offering, she accepts and forms an alliance with Mami.

Homura and Mami fight witches together while Sayaka and Madoka (who have yet to make contracts) watch; Homura kills Charlotte and Mami survives.

Sayaka makes her wish to save Kyousuke and becomes a magical girl, joining the team with Homura and Mami. When Kyouko starts the duel with Sayaka, she's interrupted by Mami, her long-time old friend. Realizing that Sayaka and Mami have an alliance, she drops the duel. This causes her and Sayaka to become friends much more quickly than in the anime timeline, allowing her to save Sayaka from despair.

Homura tells them that they all need to team up to fight Walpurgisnacht, which is going to manifest over their city. They all work together in Homura's apartment coming up with their plans, and then they go to fight the witch.

Meanwhile Madoka, tucked safely in the shelter, is worried sick about her friends. Kyuubey tells her that becoming a magical girl might save them, and she decides to go find them and act as a potential backup.

Mami is struck by a falling building and nearly killed, sapping most of her magic. Realizing the true nature of magical girls, she shoots and destroys her soul gem rather than allow herself to turn into a witch.

The other girls quickly realize that this witch is more powerful than they were anticipating, but keep fighting anyway. Sayaka is injured and dies in Kyouko's arms despite Kyouko's desperate attempts to save her. Empty with grief for Sayaka, Kyouko uses up most of her remaining magic in a blow to Walpurgisnacht and destroys her soul gem in the process.

Homura realizes that she is now left to fight the witch alone. Madoka, arriving on the scene, asks her what's happened to their friends and realizes that they've all been killed. Believing that becoming a magical girl is the only way to save Homura, she prepares to make a contract with Kyuubey despite Homura begging her not to.

In her desperation, Homura shoots Kyuubey to prevent the contract from being fulfilled. But the situation is still incredibly dangerous, and still-mortal Madoka is struck by a falling building. Homura is powerless to help, and Madoka is killed.

Whoever made this was the god of amv making

Sayaka Ichigo Kamishiro Arclight (SIKA)

I have watched this AMV alot of times now, but until now, I still gain extreme chills when watching this. The elegance yet rapid pace of the music really picks up with your emotions and blends beautifully especially in the end, making it all the more amazing and tragic. For me, this is the best Puella Magi AMV, because it creates a story on its own, and aside from other AMV's, this one can actually make you feel deep regressions despite not having lyrics. The video, the music, everything was blended perfectly. Truly a masterpiece.

Wow, this video is incredible. The amount of masking you had to do to segment the characters so seamlessly from their original backgrounds and splice them together in outstanding, and you really did a fantastic job of matching colors and lighting to really make these meshes feel believable. I assume the program used was After Effects? Regardless of what program you used, this must have taken an incredibly long time. Fantastic!
