The William Shatner Connection was a fan club for William Shatner and the roles he played, especially on Star Trek: TOS.

This club had Shatner's support and approval.

In 1994, this club had 1200 members. [1]

Context

After William Shatner Fan Fellowship folded in 1982, a new club, the William Shatner Fellowship, sprung up in its wake. When THAT club folded, "The William Shatner Connection" took its place.

The club had a newsletter called The William Shatner Connection NewsZine.

Talk Trek

The club's officers also created and produced the radio show, Talk Trek.

This club sponsored Shatnered Weekend.

Unrest in the Ranks

From a fan in 1987:

[Vel Jaeger]: Re: Joyce Mason and the WSF. I heard that she's taking more of a role in the functioning of the club, which may lead to even more members leaving in droves. She was the one who authored the nasty letter to the English members (which appeared only in the English edition of The Shatner File), and is generally credited with the Members Handbook which created such a furor. And now she's ripping apart their own Regional Assistants for daring to question some of the actions of the leadership — they're being told that WSF is a "sole proprietorship," and that Helen Molloy doesn't have to answer to any of them for her actions or financial arrangements. So much for fellowship. Glad I bailed out when I did. [2]
