The South Croydon LIStener is a long-running newsletter published by members of The Elisabeth Sladen Information Network (a Doctor Who fan club).

It began as a quarterly newsletter.

The Elisabeth Sladen Information Network is an international fan club devoted to the actress who played Sarah Jane Smith, a Doctor Who Companion. Originally founded in March of 1990, the club published twenty-two issues of the newsletter, as well as held an annual party at Visions, a Doctor Who convention in the UK. One of the high point of the ESIN's existence was at Visions in 1993, when they hosted a private pizza party for members-only with Elisabeth Sladen.

There was a multi-year gap between issues #21 and #22. The ESIN ceased publishing the newsletter after #22 when it migrated to a mailing list. More info: here.

Issue contents: all issues have news, letters, a Classified section, and the Life With Mrs. Dalek and Dog Days comic strips. From #6 on, each regular issue focuses on a particular story, with artwork and/or photos, background information, a quote from Lis, and comments from members. Issues are up to 24 pages in length and include lots of personal and behind-the-scenes photos, comments from Lis about various Doctor Who stories and about Lis from various actors; descriptions of personal meetings; convention reports; analysis of Sarah Jane Smith's character, her role in Doctor Who, etc.; much SJS-related artwork, often of superior quality; fan comments; reviews; interviews; and more.
