External links

There doesn't really seem to be a clear policy on how to organise lists of fanworks - there are pages with only direct links, pages with only (red) wikilinks, pages with links in the citations - but I'm for including both wikilinks and direct external links; I find it really irritating to have to go to another wiki page to get to a story. --MegR 09:15, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

If this were a fanfiction index I would agree that it would be inconvenient to have to go to another wiki page but in a wiki we always link to other wiki pages and we don't add add an external link in addition to a wikilink when we link an existing page. There is no need to have an external link in addition to the wikilink because the external link (often more than one) already is included on the linked wiki page. Otherwise we would have to include additional external links every time we link to an archive page, a community page, a people page, etc. and that is not how wikis work. --Doro 11:57, 29 March 2010 (UTC)
Another disadvantage to all these extra brackets (if we were to include external links in addition to the internal ones consistently) is that they disrupt the reading flow, and my browser for some reason does not display an external link symbol thingy, and with the colors of internal and external links being rather similar, half the time I confuse them with footnotes, and expect to be taken down the page with my, but land elsewhere entirely. I think if there is no page for a fanwork an external link is better than a red wikilink, but if there is an article already linking to that is sufficient.--RatCreature 12:40, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

ETA: however I mind the extra link less in the lists, because there is no text flow to disrupt, e.g. in the community lists for example I'd be in favor of having both internal and external links.--RatCreature 12:42, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

I don't like them in lists either, but I can accept them there. However, stories on an article page shouldn't just be lists of links, there should be additional comment why the stories are linked in the first place, otherwise they look like random links that can be hugely misrepresenting in the eyes of another fan.--Doro 12:53, 29 March 2010 (UTC)

TPTB

I deleted something by accident that was added today, but on second thought I think it's not needed anyway because the showrunner's answer to the question is covered in the newspaper article. --Doro 18:18, 18 November 2010 (UTC)

Now there are two versions of the answer one of TPTB gave to one specific question at one specific event. One version from a fan report and one from a newspaper article where he had the opportunity to expand on his answer. I find it excessive to include both in an article that's about the pairing and not about TPTB but YMMV. --Doro 22:46, 20 November 2010 (UTC)
