I was interested in starting on this page because I want to compare the influence and effect close creators have had on fandoms like Bab5, Jossverse, new Who except as I write I realise I am hopelessly biased. Vera 07:37, 6 October 2008 (UTC)

Just went in and added a bunch of stuff. Need to cite more references and of course expand, expand, expand... I folded the "Engaging with fans" section into the more general fandom section and put more specific examples. I want to have more stuff on other fannish activities but I don't know where to go for all the info... blah blah blah. Basically, if you remember any other message boards please add info, if you remember any Babylon 5-centric conventions PLEASE add info, if you ever played the B5 roleplaying game, MOO, or war game please add info--I can put in some stuff about the CCG when I'm not beat. Also, there are plenty more sites out there which need linking to. This will happen! --Aris TGD 10:23, 25 September 2009 (UTC)

Someone please check my edits. The goal was to restore fanfic archive links and other deleted links that I think should remain. I did pose a question about B5's eligibility as a Yuletide candidate that is worth updating. Moved the Susan/Talia ref links to the Susan/Talia ship page. And also suggested that the same be done with the Londo/G'Kar links once that ship page is set up. I personally prefer the older arrangement of highlighting fic archives and fanzines instead of lumping it together under "resources" - it makes it easier for the reader to find the category they are looking for. However the main goal for this round of edits was to make certain items were not inadvertently deleted in the reorg. Good job!--MeeDee (talk) 23:49, 10 June 2013 (UTC)
Ah, thanks for adding back the missing stuff - my browser crashed a couple of times while I was editing and apparently automatic form recovery doesn't work quite as well as I thought it did on longer documents. I actually expanded on the Yuletide info but it must have disappeared, too (B5's eligibility has been a bit of a question mark almost every year). I'll add it back.--Ruuger (talk) 16:32, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
I have lost too many edits due to browser crashes. I tried editing offline but I use the preview feature to check my edits as I go. Anyhow, as a B5 fan love the work you're doing.--MeeDee (talk) 17:20, 11 June 2013 (UTC)
That's why I have the auto form recovery extension installed, though apparently I shouldn't trust it :D

For reference, to-do list/wish list of things that still need to be added/expanded:

  • More on fanworks other than fic: crafts, songs and other 'non-traditional' fanworks at Babylon 5 Love, for example; the I've Found Her game; RPGs; the 'official fanvids'.
  • The Mongoose Publishing tie-in books that never were and their relationship with fanfic.
  • Where did the fic hide? Zines? Mailing lists? Also, what was the non-fic fandom's relationship with fic-writing fandom?
  • Fan campaigns? There must have been some considering that B5 fandom probably holds the record for most cancellations ;D

Sinclair vs Sheridan controversy?

I note there is no mention of Sinclair being replaced after Season One. I do remember the series at its beginning and how I felt Sinclair seemed to be wooden in portrayal. I wasn't the only one, many other fans agreed. I did read later that the actor said it had been his choice to play the character that way. (Perhaps we ST fans expected more emotion in our leaders?) The solution was to recast with an entirely new character, John Sheridan, who was much more popular. Wondering if fan discussion was where JMS picked up on how Sinclair was perceived poorly? In retrospect, we may well have been too harsh on the actor. I do know many people thought he couldn't act. Pcdfanwriter (talk) 17:00, 13 September 2020 (UTC)
