Patrick Troughton was a British actor, he is best known for being the second actor to play The Doctor on Doctor Who, a role which he assumed in 1966 after the original actor William Hartnell left due to poor health. He played the role until 1970, when Jon Pertwee assumed the role. Other notable roles include The Omen, Jason and the Argonauts, Frankenstein and the Monster From Hell, and Richard III (1955 film). He died of a heart attack while attending Magnum Opus Con in Columbus, Georgia on March 28, 1987 at the age of 67.
