Os leitores-autores de fanfictions na internet (English title given as Readers-authors of fanfictions in the internet) is an academic paper by Fabíola do Socorro Figueiredo dos Reis, published in FronteiraZ, a literature journal.
Abstract

This paper aims at presenting and analyzing the phenomenon of authorship in the Internet, by focusing on the reader-writer, more specifically, a writer who was once the reader of an original story and who freely undertakes the task of continuing it (from the point it was left by the first creator) or rewriting it so as to please himself/herself and/or other potential readers. They are readers who enjoy a story and, all of a sudden, start using characters from other authors in their own stories and publish them on the internet, thus interacting with other readers through comments made at every chapter published. As Roland Barthes (2004) once said, the writer will always imitate previous writings of his/her time, but never the original.
